Archival digital prints, front-mounted to Plexiglas, 2007

Shell’s collaborative project Happy Endings uses images from final scenes of movies, with the last lines of dialogue determining the titles. The artists asked friends to suggest the films that would be used, allowing for multiple interpretations of the idea of happiness. Titles from left to right, top down:

Atmospheric pressure 999 milibars.
Always time to dream, so keep on dreamin’.

Aren’t you going to kiss your grandmother?
Go and love some more.
Now. Yes, now.
Baby, you are gonna miss that plane.

Reuben!
I just got a $900 bill on my gas card.
Fire! Fire!
Ouch. Ouch. I’ll be right here. Bye.
